MSG
- Monosodium glutamate, or MSG, is a type of food flavoring.
- It is a form of concentrated salt that is added to many fast food products.
- MSG is generally recognized as safe by the FDA ( Food and Drug Administration), but there has been many reports of skin rashes, itching, hives, vomiting, asthma, heart irregularities, depression, seizures, headache, migraines, chest pain, nausea, and weakness – these reactions may happen because of MSG in fast food that is highly processed.
- It can cause a wide range of reactions, from temporary headaches to permanent brain damage and violent behavior.
- The fast food industry uses MSG because it is very cheap. It adds enjoyable flavor without spending much money.
- It was test on mice and it cause them to become blind and obese. MSG may not be causing humans to be blind, but it could possibly be affecting their eyesight.
High Fructose Corn Syrup
- High Fructose corn syrup (hfcs) is a type of syrup or sugar that many fast food chains use as a cheaper replacement for to cane and beet sugars.
- The chemical is used to persevere the sweetness of foods especially in drinks.
- Fructose is prone to become fat and be stored in fat cells.
- Consumption increases risk for type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, and cancer.
- Fructose is not easily processed and metabolized in the liver.
Casein
- Casein is an addictive property usually in cheese.
- The problem with addictive foods like cheese is that they are acidic, and acidic foods tend to be fatty and sugary.
- Fatty and sugary substances have negative effect on your health by causing weight gain.
- Casein is often referred to as the “nicotine of fast food”.
- Common fast food items containing casein are French fries that contain milk-derived ingredients, buns, milk shakes, drive-thru-window baked goods, other desserts, creamy salad dressings, whipped toppings, sausages, etc.
TBHQ
- TBHQ which stands for Tertiary Butylhydroquinone is a preservative in many fast food products (foods and drinks) it is derived from the chemical Butane.
- TBHQ is a type of Benzoate preservative.
- The FDA only allows 0.02% of TBHQ oils in foods.
- TBHQ in doses 1 gram and higher can cause severe nausea, delirium, collapse, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and vomiting.There are also studies that show it may cause hyperactivity in children, asthma, rhinitis, and dermatitis. It can also cause restlessness, and heighten ADHD symptoms, and in women affect estrogen levels.
- When tested on laboratory animals TBHQ also created cancerous growth.
